What are the differences between LED lights and other traditional lighting lamps by outdoors ?
In daily life, our outdoor light strips are quite ordinary and obvious. However, for light strips that are constantly submerged in water, such as swimming pools, fountains, water-based landscapes, etc., the quality requirements for these light strips are extremely high.
Therefore, the recommended optimal parameters for the light strips are: IP 67 , AC220V , 6500K , SMD 5050, 10mm PCB 360LEDs/m , Of course , Different usage environments allow for the selection of different parameters, and this is not the only solution.
Let me teach you the techniques for using waterproof light strips.
1) Select the appropriate IP rating
You must consider the application situation to determine the IP rating that suits your LED light strips. For example, when using LED light strips in the bathroom, the shower area requires IPX7. However, the lamps installed around the shower area in the bathroom work well at the IPX4 level. Similarly, if you want to install LED light strips in the swimming pool, you need IPX8-rated LED light strips. Therefore, please consider the level of water contact to select the IP rating.
2）Seal the LED light strip after cutting
If you cut the waterproof LED light strip, it will no longer be waterproof. The silicone or PU glue on the LED light strip will be removed at the cutting point, allowing water to easily enter the edges of the light strip. Therefore, when you cut the waterproof LED light strip, please use silicone at the end, connection point or cutting point. Use a heat sink to fully seal the LED light strip to obtain more guarantees.
3）Choose the appropriate waterproof glue based on the temperature.
Temperature is an important factor to consider when choosing waterproof LED light strips. The types of adhesives used for waterproofing vary in terms of their temperature resistance. For instance, LED light strips used in high temperatures are not recommended to be sealed with epoxy resin or PVC.
However, if you are looking for the best high-temperature resistant glue, silicone glue undoubtedly comes out on top. That’s why well-known LED light strip manufacturers use PU or silicone for waterproofing. You can use them in extremely cold or extremely hot applications.
